4WD Action in South Trinidad

by Tarique

What was supposd to be a quick and dirty trail mission through some farmland in central Trinidad quickly turned into a wet, muddy 4 hour drive in some dodgy weather conditions. Seeing that we were mostly anticipating dry trail conditions, some drivers realized they got a lot more than they bargained for with that deep mud setting in. We only got halfway through the trail and decided to call it a day and maybe try again another time.

We met up Corinth Teacher’s Training College just off the southbound highway early that morning before we made our way into Princess Town to find the trail head. It was already a little damp when we got there but as we passed a few obstacles it quickly became a downpour about 30 mins into the drive. After that, all hell broke loose with vehicles getting bogged, snatch recoveries and lots of ‘trail traffic’

Because I knew the conditions beforehand, I decided to sit this one out as a driver and instead be a co-pilot for Ryan in his Toyota Hilux. Not gonna lie, made me kinda jealous seeing that my NP300 is still stock. The Hilux really made easy work of most if not the entire trail big thanks to those rear lockers and 35″ BFG mud tires.

I think we had a convoy of over 10 rigs all trying to ploy their way through this farm access road thats usually used by tractors and bison.

Hopefully next run I’d be able to get behind the wheel as well
